Finnish mushroom salad

FI, savoury, cooled, vegetarian


  • 3-4 dl of salted mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 2 dl smetana (or whipped cream)

Optional ingredients:

  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp of sugar
  • dash of white pepper

The traditional Finnish mushroom salad is made of salted milk caps. Soak the salted mushrooms, and press the excess water out. Chop the mushrooms and peeled onion. Mix spices into smetana and then stir mixture with mushrooms and onions.

Serve as side dish or with rye bread.
